COURSE OVERVIEW // This course introduces the practice of graphic design. Through instruction and studio work students learn methodology of research, brainstorming and analysis for concept generation, introduction to the formal elements, basic principles, and study of typography classifications and anatomy for development of layouts and compositions to create effective visual communication. Projects are built to develop skills, as well as encourage engagement and design entrepreneurship, via creation of identity for a topic of personal interest, including combination (graphic element) mark (typography) to create an identity, literature and/or packaging materials of choice, and poster/ advertisement.
